Staff courteous. Room comfortable and availability of fruit in front of room is convenient to take when leaving for tours. Location within walking distance to old part of Quebec city. Breakfast served outside room is convenient.
Staff no always available at check in desk when needed.
The hotel is good to visit the Old City of Quebec, especially for coming by a train. Perfect location and a fermer's Market on the oposit side of the road, where you can find the best chees of the World.
The breakfast was great and it was wonderful to have it at your door by seven. My room was upgraded without charge so that was a nice unexpected surprise. The entire experience was wonderful.
Location and Price. The hotel was also a very pleasant place to stay. The staff at all times took care to assit me. Thanks to all the staff, Art Higgins
Wonderful breakfasts, quaint room, excellent service, perfect location. A phenomenal stay that was a complete joy! Thank you. :-)
We enjoyed having our continental breakfast served to our room by 6:00 a.m. The hotel rooms were extremely well decorated and comfortable. Have already recommended the hotel to people.
Location provided access to sights and restaurants via a walk and/or taxi, although off the beaten track. Hotel staff were helpful. Bed was comfortable and bedding was above average in quality. On the plus side to the location, it was quiet and we slept very well. However, there was no restaurant in the hotel and the one attached to it was uninviting (even the clerk made a face when we asked about it). Toilet was very noisy. Took us a day to figure out it could be silenced by jiggling the handle. Annoying...
The first thing that greeted us as we entered the front door was a very musty smell. Also noticed it in the bedroom but to a lesser degree. Carpet in the Presidential suite was dirty and stained and the sink leaked on the carpet below it. Bathroom sink area way too small and very inconvenient and extremely poorly lit. Although more than adequate, I probably wouldn't stay there again. It's just a little too far from the activities and the taxi cab fares just added to expenses. The hotel is understandably old and, as such, has its own charm, but it is in need of a makeover. Very dark and not so cheery. Breakfast is a nice plus but we ate it only one day...tiresome after a day to eat the same thing.
Lots of details lead me to say that this hotel was one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in: very big room, cozy, docking station for ipod etc.. Breckfast (very good) is served in a bag outside the room's door. Coffe is in the lobby. That's the only quite negative aspect. Perfect for the visit of the city.
Just one detail: the coffe is served only in the lobby.
The beds were excellent, the location was excellent and the staff was friendly.. Both my son and I were delighted with the hotel and the staff.. We would definitely tell friends and go back again.. Thank you for the pleasant stay...the morning breakfast was a lovely bonus...
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel des Coutellier for 3 nights from 3rd-6th April. All the facilities were first rate- the room was well apponited and worth the four star rating. The complimentary breakfast baskets of a morning/ coffee machine in room were great and access to Apple Macs downstairs for checking emails etc was also very handy. The hotel is a short 10 min walk up to the Old Town and there were plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.
I really liked this hotel. The location is perfect and receptionists were very kind! room and breakfast are very nice! I had great time there.
Lovely accommodation - just the right beginning for our lovely vacation. Excellent location for cruise - within walking distance of the port. Breakfast presentation was unique and also tasty
Location perfect. easywalking to everything..restaurants outside, fruit market across the street, grocery one block perfect for family or solo traveler.
The style and decor contrasting with the age and outside fasad -- nicely finished
Bed was very comfortable and towels were perfect. There was a separate thermostat for the bathroom and the heating vent was right under the towel rack, so towels were warm when I stepped out of the shower. The small breakfast containing a selection of breads and pastries was more than adequate. Although I think it is preferable to stay at the top of the hill in terms of location, this was still very close to many things, and if the hill is difficult for you to climb there is a small bus that stops right in front of the hotel for $1. Also, we had avery early train to catch the day of checkout, and the train station is just a five minute walk. Staff was fully bilingual French/English and helpful.
